Mencari Masa

Whilst trying to finalise my wedding and reception dates (2009? 2010?) I discovered some cool things on the Net.

No 1:
I discovered Google Calendar.

You need to have a google account. For existing gmail user, take some time and explore the links on the top left hand corner. If you are curious cat like me, you'd definitely would love Google Calendar. It's easy and it runs quite fast on my ancient machine and the chrome internet browser. I have fun creating calendars and playing with the setting. In fact I have created 2 public type calendars:
  1. Brunei Public Holiday Details http://tinyurl.com/yl9h72r

Embed it to your website using the following code:

    <.iframe src="http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=9fngr3v627728fe594cf0f6n10%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Asia/Brunei" style="border: 0" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no">
PS remove the "." before iframe
  2. Brunei School Term Holiday Details http://tinyurl.com/yffkwcl.
Embed it to your website using the following code:

    <.iframe src="http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=354iakklr4q4a4p5u567obbbg4%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Asia/Brunei" style="border: 0" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no">

PS Again don't forget to remove the "." before iframe

All this information and the code link can be found at the google Calendar's Settings tab. It's the second box on the left hand side of the Google Calendar page. Click the Settings, then click on the Calendar that you wish to view the details to. The codelink is on the Embed This Calendar section. This section allows your to embed or attached the calendar to your website or blog or facebook profile (see my next discovery) . you can attach multiple calendars and change the color using the a nifty feature called the Google Embeddable Calendar Helper. To access this feature, click on the 'Customize the color, size, and other options'.

No 2: My Google Calendar apps

Since I am also a facebook addict, I also have discovered My Google Calendar apps which can be posted on to your profile. Yay! You can see it here: http://tinyurl.com/yj8hgtq

It's also quite easy to post. All you have to do is go to applications (bottom left hand corner in facebook page), search for My Google Calendar, add it to your profile, then add your google calendar by posting the code.

No 3: Brunei Government Ministries website
My final discovery tonight, and the most important one is the fact that I have found useful, relevant and quite information on the government websites. I like it!

Granted I had to traverse the depth of the Brunei Prime Minister's Office website at the http://www.jpm.gov.bn/ to find the pdf memo for Public Holiday 2010 (Menu > Circular > 8/2009 - Hari-Hari Kelepasan Awam 2010), but at least it's available online. Yay!

Since I was looking for a holiday calendar, I had an easier time at the Ministry of Education website. The School Term and holiday is posted right on the front page in its own little yellow box. I love it! The website is http://www.moe.edu.bn/ but here's the direct download link to the pdf : http://tinyurl.com/ykkq2lq

Now that I have disclose the true nature of InTANiz the geekette (gosh I thoroughly enjoyed the entire process of discovering all this stuff!) I hope you find it useful as well.

Live long and prosper. XD
