Happy Quirkyalone Day

Or you could say Happy SAD. Sad being the supposed state of the single's mind. Singles Awareness Day sounds more like a consolation prize, or worse still, a jealous outburst by those who haven't found their mate.

Which is why I like Quirkyalone Day, celebrated on the 14th of February since 2003; as it is not anti-Valentine's Day. It is a celebration of friendship, the romantic and independent spirit. Yes, it is yet another senseless holiday people have come up with to validate their existence (i.e. show off) and we may never well be able to resist the temptation to one up the next man; but competing on which of us is happier, in theory, doesn't seem like such a bad idea.

So Happy Quirkyalone Day to those romantics who prefer to be single rather than settle, those who hold relationships to a high standard and those who value friendship very highly.

And if you are a follower of consumerism(not that there's anything wrong with that), why not buy a singelringen, a "single ring" from Sweden, to celebrate the day:-because you’re never alone when you’re quirkyalone.
